The Challenge
As mobile readership grew, the publisher wanted to adapt its extensive library for a new generation of readers. Existing digital formats were falling short: static PDF-style pages required constant pinching and zooming, while “dynamic” animated options overcomplicated the reading experience.
What readers wanted was simple – the ability to scroll vertically through comics on their phones, immersing themselves in the story without friction.
The challenge was to reformat thousands of legacy pages into a continuous vertical layout without disrupting the creative process or increasing production overhead. The solution needed to be scalable, lightweight, and respectful of designer control.
